1907 Born in Sakashita Town, Kawanuma District, Fukushima Prefecture.
1911 Moved to Yubari, Hokkaido.
1931, moved to Tokyo at the age of 24 and studied oil painting by himself while working as an advertising poster.
1936, when he was 29 years old, he was influenced by the woodblock print ”shōgatsu musume sugata”(made by yasui sotaro安井曽太郎)While self-study, he produces woodcuts.
1949 Exhibited woodcut “Milk” at the 1st Salon de Printemps exhibition and won the top prize.
1956 Teaching woodcuts in various places in the US and Mexico
He made a new type of woodblock print that incorporates the style of Western painting.
Representative works include stares (flowers), milk, etc.
He has also produced many works on cats.
