This ukiyo-e artist died at the young age of 37.However, even in his short life, his painting skills as an ukiyo-e artist were certain.

The signature says “Keiuntei kunimaru e 軽雲亭国丸画”.

A disciple of the first Utagawa Toyokuni. His real name is Maeda, commonly known as Bunji. He is also called Iseya Ihachi. He refers to Utagawa’s painting artnames as Ichiensai(一円斎), Gosairou(五彩楼), Kunimaru(軽雲亭), Saikasuro(彩霞楼), and Houchouan(翻蝶庵).
He initially called the painting name Bunji. A man from Edo, his father runs a pawn shop in Honmachi 2-chome.The drawing period was from culture to Bunsei, and he worked on many illustrations for the gōkan, including the illustrations for the gōkan “Kacho Fugetsu Akira” published in 1809, as well as uki-e and bijin-ga.He is 37 years old. His graveyard is Asakusa Shin-Horibata Gonnenji Temple. His disciples include Shigemaru Utagawa, Toshimaru Utagawa, and Teruhito Utagawa, who are also considered to be Hiroshige Utagawa’s disciples. Under the first Toyokuni, he was a writer along with Kuniyasu Utagawa and Kuninao Utagawa, and was called the Three Crows.His first disciple of Toyokuni was called the Three Crows because he was as good at painting as Kuniyasu Utagawa and Kuninao Utagawa.
