Kikuchi Keigetsu 菊池契月(memo)
Kikuchi Yoshihumi(菊池芳文) is a disciple of Kono Bairei. Along with Takeuchi Seiho(竹内栖鳳), Taniguchi Kokyo(谷口香嶠) and Tsuji Kako(都路華香) of the same gate, he was also known as the “Four Tennos, a disciple of Kono Bairei,” and was a painter who had learned the orthodox Shijo school of Kyoto painting. After studying under him, in 1898 (Meiji 31), the year after the introduction, “Bunshu” won the first prize at the 4th New Ancient Art Exhibition, and the following year, the 2nd painting co-promotion. The “Shichu Death” exhibited at the exhibition will also be the first prize. After that, he received awards every year, married Yoshifumi’s daughter Aki at the age of 27 in 1906 (Meiji 39), became the son of the Kikuchi family, and later named himself Kikuchi. Kazuo Kikuchi, the eldest son born in 1908 (Meiji 41) between the couple, became a sculptor for a long time, and Takashi Kikuchi, the second son born in 1911 (Meiji 44), became a Japanese-style painter. At the newly established Ministry of Education Art Exhibition (Bunten), the 2nd exhibition in 1908 won the 2nd prize for “名士弔葬”, and the 3rd exhibition the following year won the 3rd prize for “悪童の童”. At the 4th exhibition of the following year, he won the second prize for “供燈”.

memo(Yamagishi Kazue)
age of 15 and became a disciple of woodblock sculptor Rikichi Muto. Eventually, he worked at the Yomiuri News company instead of his, carved illustrations and studied woodcuts, and studied art at the Takahashi Western Painting Laboratory, led by Kiyoteru Kuroda.
